Open Access, 2016, 3 hours, Loughborough University John Atkin’s Office

This performance was a parody of one of John Atkin’s artworks, who is a well-known artist and Loughborough University tutor. The performance was placed in his office to inhabit his private space and also an official environment. It was a comment on traditional and historical forms of sculpture raising myself up on a plinth linking to high art and classical Greek Sculptures. The use of props were in reference to what materials and objects he uses for his own artist practice and also add an element of humour to the work. The performance was a long in duration to give the illusion of the performer actually being a sculpture and also transmit to the spectators an element of mystery of who is the performer and how they are able to remain in a static position. The audience who attended felt obligated to stay in the space as it was performed in an authoritative space so they were forced into staying in this environment.
